Odoo vs Zoho
An honest side-by-side breakdown of two leading business platforms. We help businesses evaluate, implement, and get the most out of Odoo, so you spend less time on software decisions and more time growing.
Talk to Our Team See Feature ComparisonWhy This Choice Matters
Both Odoo and Zoho promise to run your whole business: CRM, invoicing, inventory, HR, websites and more. They just get there in very different ways, and that difference decides your costs, your data quality, and how far the platform can grow with you.
One Source of Truth
When sales, stock and accounting share the same database, a confirmed order updates inventory and your books instantly. No sync jobs, no mismatched records.
Real Automation
Useful automation crosses departments. An online order should reserve stock, create a picking, post the invoice and notify the customer without anyone touching it.
Numbers You Can Trust
Dashboards and forecasts are only as good as the data behind them. If your apps live in separate silos, your reports do too.
The Real Cost
The sticker price is just the start. Licensing model, add-ons, customization limits and vendor lock-in decide what you actually pay over 3 to 5 years.
Two Very Different Philosophies
Zoho started in Chennai in 1996 and grew into a portfolio of 45+ separate cloud apps, later bundled together as Zoho One. Odoo started in 2005 and built a single open source ERP where 50+ apps run on one shared database. That one architectural difference explains almost everything else on this page.
One Platform. Every Department.
Odoo is an ERP at its core. CRM, Sales, Inventory, Manufacturing, Accounting, HR, Website and eCommerce are modules of the same system, sharing one database and one interface. A sales order flows into stock, delivery and accounting on its own, because there is nothing to connect in the first place.
A Broad Suite of Separate Apps
Zoho makes genuinely good standalone tools. Zoho CRM, Books, Inventory, People, Desk and 40 more. Zoho One puts them under one login and one bill, but each app keeps its own data model and settings, and they talk to each other through built-in integrations rather than a shared core.
Module Comparison
What each platform actually gives you, area by area. Odoo modules are native parts of one system. The Zoho equivalents are separate apps bundled inside Zoho One.
| Business Area | Odoo | Zoho |
|---|---|---|
| CRM & Pipeline | Zoho CRM | |
| Sales & Quotations | CRM + Books together | |
| Accounting & GST Compliance | Zoho Books | |
| Inventory & Warehousing | Lighter warehouse depth | |
| Manufacturing (MRP, BoM, Work Orders) | Only basic bundles | |
| Point of Sale (Retail & Restaurant) | ||
| Website Builder & eCommerce | Sites / Commerce apps | |
| HR, Payroll & Attendance | People + Payroll | |
| Helpdesk & Support | Zoho Desk | |
| Projects & Timesheets | Zoho Projects | |
| Marketing (Email, SMS, Social, Automation) | ||
| Field Service, Rental, Subscriptions | Partial, via add-ons | |
| Documents, eSign & Knowledge | WorkDrive, Sign, Wiki | |
| Office Suite (Mail, Docs, Sheets, Meetings) | Lighter here | A real Zoho strength |
Credit where due: Zoho's office productivity apps are excellent. But for operations like manufacturing, POS, warehousing and field service, Odoo covers ground Zoho simply does not have.
Feature Comparison
Odoo Standard, which includes every app, against the equivalent Zoho apps under Zoho One. Features with an orange note need a higher edition, a separate app, or do not exist on that platform.

Why Growing Businesses Choose Odoo
Zoho is a fine starting point, and Zoho Books on its own is a solid accounting tool. But once a business has real operations to run, with stock, production, retail or projects, a suite of loosely connected apps starts to show its limits. This is where Odoo pulls ahead.
Integrated, Not Just Bundled
Zoho One gives you one bill and one login for 45 apps, each with its own data model. Odoo runs everything on one database from the start, so records never fall out of sync in the first place.
Covers What Zoho Cannot
Manufacturing with BoMs and work orders. A retail POS that keeps working when the internet drops. Warehouse routes, quality control, field service, rentals. Whole industries run on Odoo modules that have no Zoho equivalent.
Open Source, No Lock-In
Odoo's code is open. Any developer can read it, extend it or host it on your own servers. Zoho is proprietary and cloud only, so your customizations live and die inside their platform.
Pay Per User, Not Per Employee
Zoho One's cheapest rate requires a license for every employee on payroll, including staff who never open a screen. License only actual users and the per-user price rises sharply (₹3,500* at current India rates). Odoo charges per real user, with all apps included. Do check current rates on the official pricing pages, as these change over time.
Customization Without a Ceiling
Zoho customization stops where Deluge scripts and APIs stop. Odoo goes from no-code changes in Studio all the way to full Python development, so the software bends to your workflow rather than the reverse.
Global Reach, India Ready
140+ country localizations, and since 2023 full Indian compliance with GST filing, e-Invoicing, e-Way bill, TDS and UPI. One system handles your Indian books and your overseas entities.
Pricing at a Glance
Both platforms look affordable on paper. The real difference is the licensing model. Odoo charges per actual user with every app included. Zoho One's headline price only applies if you license your entire payroll.
* All prices shown are indicative India rates at the time of writing, billed annually and exclusive of GST. Actual pricing varies by region, edition, promotions and user count, and both companies revise their rates from time to time. For current prices please refer to the official pricing pages at odoo.com/pricing and zoho.com/one/pricing, or contact us for an up-to-date quote for your business.

"We were juggling Zoho CRM, Books and Inventory, and the numbers never quite matched between them. Stella Technolabs moved us to Odoo in under a month. One system, one set of numbers, and our monthly software bill went down. We should have done it a year earlier."Manufacturing and Distribution Client
